The Opening Statement™

A quick preview of your Leadership Standing™

A free 15-question preview assessment that scores your leadership strengths across five pillars and points you to your biggest growth edge.

How to take it

Fifteen statements, three for each of the five Leadership Standing™ pillars: People, Rainmakers, Influence, Multiply, and Enterprise. Rate each one honestly from 1 to 10. 1 means a major area for improvement; 10 means a consistent strength. Use the last three to six months of your own practice as your frame of reference, and trust your first instinct.

This is a quick self-read, not a full diagnosis. Add up each pillar’s subtotal. Your lowest pillar is a reasonable place to start looking.

People

Statement 1–10
My associates know exactly what “good work” looks like to me without having to ask.
I give feedback in real time rather than saving it for annual reviews.
When someone on my team underperforms, I address it directly rather than working around them.
Subtotal (3 × 10 = 30 possible) / 30

Rainmakers

Statement 1–10
If a client I originated needed to name a second person at my firm they’d actually met and would call, they could answer immediately.
I actively introduce associates to my clients rather than keeping those relationships to myself.
I have a documented plan for who inherits my book, not just a hope that it works out.
Subtotal (3 × 10 = 30 possible) / 30

Influence

Statement 1–10
I understand how decisions actually get made at my firm, not just how the org chart says they get made.
I can name the two or three people whose support I’d need to get a new initiative approved.
I raise disagreements with firm leadership directly rather than only venting about them privately.
Subtotal (3 × 10 = 30 possible) / 30

Multiply

Statement 1–10
I regularly hand off work I’m good at, not just work I dislike.
My calendar reflects my priorities, not just whoever asked first.
I trust my team enough to let their version of “done” look different from mine.
Subtotal (3 × 10 = 30 possible) / 30

Enterprise

Statement 1–10
I could describe my practice’s strategy for the next three years in two sentences.
I spend time each month on work with no billable deadline attached to it.
I think about my firm’s position in the market, not just my caseload.
Subtotal (3 × 10 = 30 possible) / 30

Reading your result

Your highest pillar is where you already lead. Your lowest is your growth edge. A few common patterns:

  • Low People: “The Technician Leader.” Excellent lawyer, still learning to lead people.
  • Low Rainmakers: “The Bottleneck.” The book depends entirely on you.
  • Low Influence: “The Outsider.” Respected for the work, invisible in the room where decisions get made.
  • Low Multiply: “The Doer.” Still doing the work someone else should own.
  • Low Enterprise: “The Firefighter.” Excellent at the next matter, no view past it.

This preview stops at a score and a label on purpose. The full Leadership Standing™ assessment adds narrative reflection, input from your team, and a live debrief session, since a number alone rarely shows the whole picture.
